Touchpix compatible and recommended devices / hardware

Touchpix allows you to use all available lenses from iPhone and iPad devices. It even allows you to connect a GoPro or DSLR camera to the app itself. Utilize a Mac device and a DSLR; an iPhone or iPad with a GoPro or DSLR cameras; an Android device with GoPro… the list keeps growing. This makes Touchpix the most versatile tool on the market.

For your Mirror Booth

  • Any Mac device whose operating system (OS) can be updated to the ‘Sonoma’ version. You can find the complete list on Apple’s support page or on Apple’s official page. We summarize the devices here, highlighting in black the recommended economical and compact option:
    • iMac 2019 or newer
    • iMac Pro 2017 or newer
    • Mac mini 2018 or newer
    • Mac Pro 2019 or newer
    • Mac Studio 2022 or newer
    • MacBook Air 2018 or newer
    • MacBook Pro 2018 or newer

For your Photo Booth

iOS

iPhone
  • iPhone 11 or higher (any model, Pro, Pro Max): We recommend to use a model with ultra-wide-angle rear camera when using it for your 360 spinner.
iPad
  • iPad 2020 or higher for photo booths.
  • We do not recommend using iPads as recording devices for 360 spinners since they do not support 120 frames per second recording with all lenses.
GoPro Cameras
  • GoPro 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 Black Series which allows you to record at 120 FPS. GoPro 7 is also supported but not recommended.
  • GoPro 10, 11 and 12 Black Series for wired connection.
  • We do not recommend the GoPro 11 mini for photo sessions. The camera does not support photo mode.

It is recommended to have an iOS device with a cellular data plan (LTE/4G/5G) to make sure you have internet for sharing. This is when you control the GoPro over wifi.

iPads for Sharing Stations
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad Air (4th generation)
  • iPad Pro (recommended, all models)
Apple TV box (streaming content to any TV)
  • Apple TV HD (4th generation or later)
Compatible Spinner Brands
  • Dzen
  • Orcavue
  • Accha Tech
  • Chacktok (only iOS)

Custom bluetooth triggers are also supported (for example with DSD Tech SH-bt01c)

Android

Our photo booth application is compatible with a wide range of Android devices. However, due to the sheer number of Android devices available in the market, it’s not feasible for us to test our application on each one of them. We’ve conducted extensive testing on popular Android devices and compiled a list of devices that are most likely to be compatible with our application. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and there may be other Android devices that are also compatible with our application.

No Android device can do slomo at the moment with Touchpix. An external camera, such as a GoPro, is required to record slomo.

Compatible devices tested by Touchpix:
  • Google:
    • Pixel 6A **
    • Pixel 7 **
    • Pixel 7 Pro **
  • Samsung:
    • Galaxy S9 *
    • Galaxy S10 *
    • Galaxy S21
    • Galaxy S22
    • Galaxy S23
    • Galaxy S20 FE
    • Galaxy Z Fold 4
    • Galaxy Tab S8
  • Realme:
    • GT Master Edition *

*Not compatible with GoPro wired (even with Android 13)
** Has dual WiFi (WiFi direct)
Please be aware that the built-in cameras for some devices, such as the Galaxy Tab A8, may not be compatible with Touchpix.

GoPro Cameras
  • GoPro 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 Black Series which allows you to record at 120 FPS. GoPro 7 is also supported but not recommended.
  • GoPro 10 Black Series for wired connection.
Android + GoPro:

The GoPro can be used with an Android device that has a minimum version of Android 13. However, it’s possible that specific low-end devices may still not be compatible even with this version. As such, it’s highly recommended to use mid-high-end devices to ensure proper functionality when using the GoPro with an Android device.
Important: If your device doesn’t have dual WiFi (or WiFi direct), connecting wirelessly to the GoPro may result in a loss of internet connection, including cellular data.
