Bike sensor setup
Bike Sensor: Comprehensive Setup Guide
This tutorial details the hardware assembly and software configuration required to run an interactive bike sensor session using the Touchpix app.
Step 1: Hardware Preparation
-
Bike Stability: Place the bike in the stand and ensure it is securely positioned so the rear wheel can spin freely without resistance.
-
Sensor Mounting: Attach the sensor box to the rear side of the bike frame (left or right tube). Use the included zip ties through the mounting holes to secure the box firmly.
-
Power Connection: Mount a battery pack near the sensor box using the included Velcro strips. Connect the sensor to the battery pack using the USB-C to USB-C cable.
-
Magnet Installation: Attach the spoke magnet to one of the rear wheel spokes. Position it so that it passes as close as possible to the sensor box during rotation.
Step 2: Connecting to the Sensor Manager
-
Wi-Fi Connection: On your configuration device (phone, tablet, or laptop), open the Wi-Fi settings.
-
Access Network: Connect to the network named Bike-sensor-xxxxx using the password
12345678. -
Configuration Page: Open a web browser and navigate to
192.168.4.1. -
Adjust Parameters: You can now view live data and adjust settings such as wheel diameter, stop thresholds, sensor sensitivity, and distance measurement intervals.
Step 3: Completing the Photobooth Setup
-
Physical Environment: Set up your backdrop and lighting. If running a TV session, ensure the screen is connected.
-
Camera Mounting: Mount your camera (such as a GoPro) and ensure it has a continuous power supply. Link the camera within the Touchpix app.
-
Bluetooth Pairing:
-
In the Touchpix app menu, navigate to Device control.
-
Tap on Add new control.
-
The app will automatically detect the sensor; tap on Magnet Sensor-xxxxxx to pair.
-
Select Input and then select Start Video session.
-
Note: The sensor will only appear inside the Touchpix app, not in your device’s general Bluetooth list.
-
Step 4: Starting the Interactive Session
-
Select Preset: Choose the Bike Sensor event preset within Touchpix, which includes pre-designed leaderboards and overlays for speed and distance.
-
Initiate: Once everything is connected, start the session. Guests will see their live stats on the screen while competing for the top leaderboard spot.
Step 5: Advanced Interface Customization
The interface can be fully customized within the event settings under Advanced tools > Device control.
-
HTML Support: Both the attract screen (default leaderboard) and the record screen (default speed/distance animation) can be designed using HTML.
-
Placeholders: The system utilizes placeholders within the code to automatically replace data with real-time session information. These include
{{speed}}and{{distance}}among others. -
