How to work with Animated GIF sessions

Touchpix allows you to organize both photo and video booth events. One feature is the ‘Animated GIF’ session, which takes the ‘Photo’ session to the next level by taking photos to create a new video. Touchpix uses photos for creating the video result in this session, to which you can add photo and video effects to it. The photo effect will be applied to each individual photo used as frames for the video. The video effects will be applied to the video as a whole. To add these effects:

  1. Open the Touchpix app.
  2. Activate your event and tap on the hamburger icon in the upper left corner, then tap on ‘Settings’.
  3. Use the left and right arrows to navigate to either the ‘5. Photo effects’ or ‘6. Video effects’ sections.
  4. Add the photo effects that will apply to all taken photos during the session. Then, add video effects on the ‘GIF’ tab.

For the ‘Animated GIF’ video result, each photo is displayed for the duration specified by the ‘GIF frame duration’ setting in your event’s configuration. If you want to learn how to change it, check out this article. You can also add an in-between time countdown, which is not possible in the ‘Photo’ session. This gives your visitors a little more time to change positions and faces between pictures. You can find this option in the ‘1. Session’ section of your in-app settings.

By default, the ‘Animated GIF’ session only generates a video output from the taken photos. However, if you want to obtain a photo result apart from the GIF video, you must add a ‘GIF (photo)’ template to the event using the Touchpix designer. To see how to do it, check out this tutorial video:
