Printpix – Server
Printpix builds a server from which you can either configure your printer or share your files using its web gallery. Reach the configuration page by connecting to the box through the Touchpix app and tapping on ‘Manage SharingBox’. There you’ll find the following:
Printpix – Control
The main controls for the Printpix box.
- Clear Gallery: Force deletes the current Sharing Box web gallery from Printpix.
- Restart Printpix: Reboots the box, it is similar to power cycling it.
- Factory Restore: Overrides your current settings and sets all of them to default values.
Printers Connected
Check the status of your Photo Booth printer connected to Printpix here.
The box will scan for nearby printers and list them. Available printers will display a blue tick while printers that can not be reached will display a “!” icon. Pending files to be printed are displayed in that list too, represented by another element with the same printer name and a blue circle with the number of pending printings. Delete the printing queue by tapping on its trash can. Find the ‘Refresh’ and ‘Reinstall printer drivers’ buttons aside from the ‘Printers Connected’ title.
The default printer is set by selecting one within the Touchpix app, on the printer dropdown list when connecting your printer to Printpix.
Access Point
Change your Printpix WiFi name here, being the default ‘tp-printserver’. After changing the name, Printpix will create a new WiFi network. The password for the WiFi can’t be changed and is located on the box. You must connect via wire or to the default network before new settings can be changed on the box.
Wireless – Network
The accessible WiFi access points (2G and 5G) are listed automatically. Tap on the refresh button to help the box list them again. Tap on the desired access point set the password and country, then select ‘Connect’. The Printpix box will have an internet connection from there forward. Additionally, in case you connect an ethernet cable to the box and plug a device into it with an adaptor, the internet will be shared with the connected device.
Version Control
Displays your current firmware version. Connect the box to the internet to verify if there is a new firmware version available to download. If that’s so, a ‘New Version’ label and a cloud icon will appear. Tap on the cloud button and confirm the prompt, and the new version will start downloading. Once the download finishes, the box will reboot and install the new version.
Important: Any changes done to your Access Point name and Wireless configurations will be lost. Rename your box’s access point name and join a WiFi in case necessary after updating.
Troubleshooting
If you don’t see the ‘tp-printserver’ network, please remove the WiFi dongle from the Printpix box and try again. Once you’re able to connect to the box’s wireless network, reinsert the WiFi dongle. After successfully connecting, you can configure the access point connection between the Printpix box and your router on your Printpix server page.
